Capturing your child's personality and joy through photography can result in priceless memories. However, getting children to feel comfortable and excited during a photography session can be a challenge. In this blog post, we'll share essential tips on how to prepare your kids for a stress-free and enjoyable photography experience.

Set Expectations and Explain the Process:

Children thrive when they know what to expect. Before the session, take a moment to explain to your kids what will happen during the photography session. Describe it as an exciting adventure where they get to have fun and be themselves. Reassure them that there's no need to be perfect; it's all about capturing their unique personalities.

Choose the Right Time

Kids are generally at their best when they're well-rested and well-fed. Schedule your photography session at a time that aligns with your child's routine to minimize crankiness. A full belly and a good night's sleep can make a world of difference in their mood and cooperation.

Bring Comfort Items

If your child has a favorite toy, blanket, or stuffed animal, bring it along to the session. These comfort items can help them feel more secure and relaxed in unfamiliar surroundings. Plus, they often add a personal touch to the photos.

Let Them Be Themselves

Encourage your children to be themselves during the session. Instead of rigid poses, focus on creating opportunities for candid moments. Whether it's playing, laughing, or exploring, we'll capture their genuine expressions and interactions. The goal is to showcase their true personalities and the special bond within your family.

Stay Relaxed and Positive

Children pick up on your energy. If you're stressed or anxious, they may feel the same way. Stay relaxed and positive throughout the session, and be ready to join in on the fun. A lighthearted and joyful atmosphere often results in the best photos.

Reward and Celebrate

After the session, celebrate the experience with your kids. Reward them with a treat, a small gift, or a fun activity they enjoy. Positive reinforcement can create a positive association with photography sessions and make them look forward to future sessions. I love hearing parents tell me how excited their little ones are for our next session! They starts associating fun with photography!

Children grow up quickly, and each phase of their development is worth preserving through photography. By following these tips, you can ensure that your kids shine in front of the camera, resulting in cherished memories that last a lifetime.

Fall is a season of transformation. As the leaves change from lush greens to fiery reds and golden yellows, the landscape transforms into a canvas of warm, vibrant colors. It's no wonder that fall is one of the most beloved seasons for family portraits.

If you're planning a fall family session in the breathtaking Colorado Rockies, you're in for a treat. In this blog post, we'll guide you through the essential steps to plan the perfect fall family photoshoot that captures the magic of this season.

Choosing the Right Location

The first step in planning a fall family session is selecting the perfect location. Colorado offers a wealth of picturesque spots, from mountain meadows to lakeside retreats, each adorned with the rich hues of autumn. Consider your family's personality and preferences when choosing a location. Do you want a rustic, mountainous backdrop, or do you prefer a serene lakeside setting? We'll help you find the ideal spot that aligns with your vision.

Coordinating Autumn-Inspired Outfits

Autumn is all about earthy tones, cozy textures, and warm colors. When coordinating outfits for your family, think about harmonizing with the fall palette. Rich burgundies, deep blues, and warm browns are excellent choices. Layers and textures like sweaters, scarves, and boots can add depth and personality to your photos. Don't forget to incorporate a pop of color with accessories like hats or statement necklaces. We'll work with you to ensure that your family's attire complements the autumn landscape beautifully.

Creating Cherished Memories

Fall family sessions are more than just capturing pictures; they're about creating cherished memories. Embrace the season by incorporating autumn-themed props like pumpkins, fallen leaves, or cozy blankets. Encourage candid moments of laughter and togetherness as your family enjoys the crisp fall air. Our goal is to capture the genuine connections and warmth that make your family unique.

Three Reasons Why Engagement Sessions Help You Get Better Wedding Photos

In the midst of wedding planning, many newly engaged couples view engagement sessions as a waste of time and money. Now, of course, as a photographer, I disagree for a plethora of reasons.

The Importance Of Engagement Sessions

In the midst of wedding planning, many newly engaged couples view engagement sessions as a waste of time and money. Now, of course, as a photographer, I disagree for a plethora of reasons. Reasons for this disagreement go way past using them to save the dates as that is not the main reason why it’s important to have an engagement session with your wedding/elopement photographer.

While there are many reasons as to why an engagement session is a worthwhile investment, I will cover the 3 reasons that I find most important. Because not only are engagement sessions worth it, but they can also directly impact your wedding photos in the best of ways.

1. YOUR COMFORT LEVEL IN FRONT OF A CAMERA

Many couples and individuals don’t have experience with having professional photos taken prior to planning their wedding. The first time you have somewhat of a stranger in front of you with a lens pointing in your direction, it can be intimidating. Engagement sessions help you to get comfortable in front of the camera and with the process as a whole before the big day. This way by the time your wedding day rolls around, you are already a pro in front of the camera.

2. YOUR COMFORT LEVEL WITH THE PHOTOGRAPHER

Getting to know your photographer better so you don’t feel like you have a complete stranger photographing you on your wedding day is key. Engagement sessions help so much with getting you comfortable around them and strengthening that bond.

3. CONFIDENCE SAVES TIME

Since you will be experienced with the two above items- you won’t spend time second-guessing everything on the day of your wedding. Having that comfort level will end up saving time when it comes to taking portraits so you can spend more time with your family and guests!

WHILE ENGAGEMENT SESSIONS ARE OPTIONAL, THEY ARE SOMETHING YOU SHOULD HIGHLY CONSIDER WHEN PLANNING YOUR BIG DAY TO BRING YOU COMFORT AS WELL AS SOME SWEET PHOTOS FROM THIS SPECIAL SEASON OF LIFE.
