Seven Things Your Wedding Photographer Does That You Didn’t Know About

The Job Of A Wedding Photographer

A fact that many don’t realize: wedding photographers wear many hats. There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes for our own business’ and beyond that, there is a lot that we do for your wedding day that you may not realize.

So, today, I wanted to share some of those things that your wedding photographer does that you may have not known. This way you have some insight as to what all goes into your investment when you hire your wedding photographer!

1. GIVING IT THEIR ALL ON YOUR WEDDING DAY

Capturing a wedding is a big deal. It’s a momentous responsibility and one that I take incredibly seriously. It is one of the biggest days of your life- one that you will cherish for the rest of your years. As time goes on, memories fade and so having beautiful images to remember your day is important.

Giving it my all on a wedding day and making sure I am fully prepared, capturing everything to the smallest of details and helping in any way I can is one of the ways I show up.

2. TIMELINE CREATION/SYNCING & EXECUTION

It is important first and foremost that we can go with the flow. Because, on your wedding day, anything can happen and so being flexible is an important thing for us wedding photographers to do. With that being said, having a plan and knowing when things are taking place helps me to plan for anything that can go wrong and be prepared for it.

If you have a planner- I connect with them and create a photography timeline to help everything go as smoothly as possible.

3. CONNECTING WITH OTHER VENDORS

Connecting with other vendors is an essential thing that I do as it helps to ensure a teamwork environment is established for your day. Your vendors are all there to help your day run smoothly and to help your dreams come to fruition. There are likely a lot of moving pieces and so making sure that I connect with vendors, helps everything run like a well oiled machine.

4. PREPPING FOR THE DETAILS

Coming up with a plan on how I will capture all of the details is another thing I am responsible for. Every little thing from your flowers, to your rings, to your decorations, everything deserves to be captured.

I want you to have a complete gallery of your day to look back on including every single little piece that went into planning and prepping. So, capturing all of that and making sure I have it all rounded up is something I pay close attention to.

5. LOCATION & VENUE SCOUTING

Every venue and location is different. Making sure that we get the most out of the location or venue is important and it helps for me to do some scouting. This means paying a visit before the big day so I can see where the lighting is the best, where the photo ops are and coming up with a plan for it all.

6. BEING PREPARED FOR EVERYTHING

I am there to be your wing woman. If you need help fixing your hair mid- day, adjusting your veil and so on, I am there and up for it all. I always make sure I am prepared for every situation so that I can help in any way possible to make any bumps in the road get smoothed out.

7. HOLD SPACE FOR YOU TO HAVE A CALM AND EFFECTIVE DAY

Finding little pockets for you to have some “stillness” in your day is another aspect that I put attention to. Whisking you away for some one on one time during portraits or a first look provides that. Your day will be a lot of hustle and bustle and so finding moments like this where you’re able to be still and take it all in is a must.

THERE IS A LOT THAT YOUR WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER DOES THAT YOU MAY NOT KNOW ABOUT. ALL OF THE THINGS WE DO ARE FOR YOU, TO MAKE SURE YOUR DAY IS AS MAGICAL AS POSSIBLE.
